What Cause Will I Ascribe

காரணம் என்ன சொல்வேன் — உன்
கருணை மழையினுக்கே — செய்த
தாரணை தியானமெல் லாம் — ஒரு
சாதனை யல்ல வப்பா — ரமணா

What cause will I ascribe for your rain of Grace
All the meditation I’ve done
  is no sadhana at all, Oh Father Ramana


நாரணன் நான்முகனின் — முயற்சி
நாண மடைந்த தென்றால் — வேறா
ருனைத் தன்தவத் தால்-முயன்
றடைந்திடக் கூடுமப்பா — ரமணா (காரணம்…)

If the attempts of Narayana and the four faced Brahma
   Met with embarrassment
Who else with their own austerities
   can attempt to attain You, Oh Father Ramana

  What cause will I ascribe for your rain of Grace....


சாத்திரங் கற்ற தில்லை — சதுர்
சாதனை யுற்றதில்லை — ஆனால்
பாத்திர மாகிடவே — அடிமைப்
படுத்திய நின்னருட்கே — ஒரு (காரணம்…)

I have never read scriptures
  I have never done the fourfold sadhana
But for Your Grace that made me eligible
  By making me your devotee, Oh Ramana

  What cause will I ascribe for your rain of Grace....


ஆடித் திரிந்த வென்னை — உன்மேல்
ஆசைப் படுத்தி யுன்னைப்
பாடிப் பதம் பெறவே — தந்திரம்
பண்ணிய நின்னருட்கே — ஒரு (காரணம்…)

Making me who was loitering around
  To get a desire to attain you
And sing about You and attain the divine State
  It is Your Grace that did the trick, Oh Ramana

  What cause will I ascribe for your rain of Grace....


பூருவ புண்ய மல்ல — இதுநாள்
புரிந்த தவமு மல்ல
யாருமில் லாநிலையில் — எனக்குன்
அருட்டுணை வந்ததென்றால்-ஒரு (காரணம்…)

Not through past good deeds
  Not through any austerities done to date
When there was no one with me
  If the aid of Your Grace came to me, Oh Ramana

  What cause will I ascribe for your rain of Grace....


தாய்தந்தை யாகினை நீ — அருளும்
ஸத்குரு வாகினை நீ — தன்னை
ஆய்வழி செய்தவன் நீ — வலியவந்
தாண்டவன் நீரமணா — ஒரு (காரணம்…)

You became my Mother and Father
   And my Sadguru who blesses with Grace
You paved the Way for my liberation
   Coming on Your own to be my Lord, Oh Ramana


தாய்தந்தை யாகினை நீ — அருளும்
ஸத்குரு வாகினை நீ — தன்னை
